Major Training Updates to Support Optical Dispensing Workforce

The Optical Dispensers Australia (ODA) has announced a significant revision to the Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing (HLT47815), with the updated package expected to launch in mid-2025. This marks the first substantial review of the qualification in nearly a decade, reflecting the evolving skills and knowledge required in modern practice.

In response to ongoing staffing shortages, ODA has also introduced pre-employment programs such as Introduction to Optics. The initiative, piloted in Melbourne in late 2024, attracted strong interest and highlights growing demand for careers in optical dispensing.
