Monkey Software and ODMA Eyetalk Strengthen Industry Collaboration Through New Data Integration Agreement
Monkey Software, developer of the Optomate practice management system and Frame & Lens eCatalogue platform, and ODMA Eyetalk have announced a new collaborative agreement designed to enhance how optical practices access and manage lens product data.
The agreement formalises the ongoing supply of ODMA Eyetalk digital content to practices using the recently released Optomate Touch v4.0. Through this integration, practices gain a clearer, more consistent view of ODMA Eyetalk Bookcode and Suggested Retail Price (SRP) data sourced from Monkey Software’s eCatalogue platform.
The inclusion of this data supports practices that use Eyetalk Bookcode and SRP information across practice management, product ordering and pricing development processes.
Previously, Eyetalk data updates were delivered quarterly before being incorporated into the system. The new integration streamlines this process, enabling lens suppliers, along with ODMA Eyetalk, to refresh lens data and Bookcode & Suggested Retail Price (SRP) data whenever required, ensuring practices always have access to the most current information.
For Eyetalk Digital subscribers, the collaboration introduces several enhancements that improve the presentation of lens data within Optomate. In Optomate Touch v4.0, a new field has been added to lens files to clearly differentiate the Eyetalk Suggested Retail Price (SRP) from supplier‑provided Recommended Retail Pricing (RRP). As a result, subscribers will now see two clearly defined pricing fields within their lens setup screens.
An additional supplier configuration option allows practices to choose which pricing data to use as the foundation for their own retail pricing structures.
Chris Monks, Founder of Monkey Software, said the agreement formalises a long-standing collaboration between the two organisations while improving the experience for shared customers.
“Optomate has included Eyetalk data for many years and it’s great to now have a formal agreement in place that ensures its ongoing availability for practices that choose to use it,” Mr Monks said. “With many Optomate customers also subscribing to Eyetalk Digital, presenting this information in a clearer and more user‑friendly way is an important step forward.”
As part of the agreement, the organisations have implemented a new authentication process, introduced in Optomate Touch v4.0, enabling practices to quickly validate their ODMA Eyetalk digital subscription directly within the Optomate platform. While access to lens eCatalogue data is available to all Optomate customers, access to Eyetalk Bookcode and Eyetalk Suggested Retail Price (SRP) information is limited to practices with a current Eyetalk digital subscription.
For practices that are not yet digital subscribers—or those who currently subscribe only to the printed reference guide—the system will also provide a simple prompt enabling them to easily sign up for the digital data service if they choose.
Amanda Trotman, CEO of ODMA, said the initiative reflects a shared commitment to improving data accessibility for the optical industry.
“ODMA Eyetalk is proud to continue evolving its services in line with the way practice management systems source and present data today,” Ms Trotman said. “Supporting suppliers to provide the information practices rely on—and ensuring that data can be accessed efficiently within their workflow—is an important step for the industry.”
