Lily Wegrzynowski, a respected optometrist and senior executive with over 20 years’ experience in leadership roles across independent and corporate optometry, will step up from her current executive role at Eyecare Plus to become General Manager when Phil Rose retires on June 30.

After 18 years with the organisation, Phil Rose has announced his retirement.

Eyecare Plus Chairman, Martin Gregory, said the organisation was fortunate to have such an outstanding leader ready to step into Phil’s role, who has served Eyecare Plus with distinction.

“We are thrilled to have such a high-calibre person to replace such a high-calibre person,” he said.

“Lily’s extensive experience and leadership make her the ideal choice to continue guiding Eyecare Plus into the future,” he said.

Ms Wegrzynowski has held clinical and management roles across independent and corporate optometry practices in Australia, along with Optometry Board positions. She joined Eyecare Plus in August 2025 after senior executive roles in other independent optometry groups.

“This is such an exciting opportunity. I’m very passionate about supporting independent optometrists to grow and thrive in an ever-changing, competitive environment,” Ms Wegrzynowski said.

“The strength of Eyecare Plus lies in the skills, knowledge, and experience of its members. Our collegiate culture is the secret ingredient to our success, and I will do everything I can to nurture and support that collaboration.”

“I thank the board and members for this opportunity and am excited for the future.”

Phil Rose began his career with Eyecare Plus as National Business Development Manager in September 2008 and became General Manager in September 2022.

Reflecting on his time with the organisation, Phil said:

“It has been a wonderful career, and I have been fortunate to work with extraordinary people.”

“I am very proud to have been part of Eyecare Plus for 18 of its 26 years. More than that, I am optimistic about the future of Eyecare Plus and confident that Lily will do a fantastic job leading the organisation.

“I’d like to sincerely thank the board, staff, and all members of Eyecare Plus – it has truly felt like a second family to me.”

With Lily’s appointment to General Manager, recruitment for a new Business Development Manager will commence shortly.
